Abstract: 

I will summarize some aspects of generalized (complex) geometry and its applications to string flux
compactifications, emphasizing its efficiency in dealing with physically interesting problems. I will also
briefly discuss some of the mathematical and physical open problems which are important in the context
of flux compactifications.
