Bienvenida
El Instituto de Física Teórica UAM/CSIC es un centro mixto perteneciente al
Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) y a la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM).
Su objetivo es el desarrollo de la investigación científica de calidad en el área de la Física Teórica así como la participación en la formación de jóvenes investigadores y profesionales y en la transmisión de conocimiento a la sociedad.
EL IFT participa en el Departamento de Física Teórica de la citada Universidad y colabora activamente con sus miembros para la consecución de sus objetivos.

Sheldon Glashow, Martinus Veltman y David Gross inauguraron el congreso 'Xmas Workshop' sobre física teórica en la UAM. El rector de la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, José María Sanz, el presidente del CSIC, Rafael Rodrigo, y el director del IFT, Alberto Casas, participaron en el evento.

The Institute of Theoretical Physics IFT CSIC/UAM welcomes applications to postdoctoral positions under various government-funded programs. Interested candidates with scientific expertise in the areas of particle phenomenology, gravitation and cosmology, astroparticle physics, lattice and quantum field theory, quantum information theory and string theory, should file an application for a preselection at the IFT, using the web form below, which requires the upload of a CV and the provision of the e-mails of three referees.
Candidates who are not successful on a given deadline for selection will be kept automatically for the next one, and the application can be updated by the candidate at any time.
Deadlines for application are set as follows, with additional information to be updated on this page regularly.

Postdoc and PhD positions in Neutrino and Dark Matter physics: network "Invisibles"

We announce the first round of positions of a new European network, Marie Curie Initial Training network (ITN) "Invisibles", which focuses on phenomenology of Neutrinos and Dark Matter physics; experimental and theoretical aspects are also encompassed.

With starting dates in the fall of 2012, several Junior Postdoctoral positions, and several PhD positions, are offered now.

Coloquios IFT: Dark Energy, the Nobel Prize for Physics 2011
I will review the present status of Dark Energy as a fundamental concept in Physics, both from the theoretical and observational point of view. I will describe the observations that have led to the Nobel Prize in Physics 2011, and the present efforts of the community in understanding the nature of Dark Energy. The talk is intended to be at a colloquium level.

Conferencia Inaugural del IFT

En Diciembre celebraremos la conferencia de inauguración científica del nuevo edificio del IFT.
Para ello contaremos con la participación de varios físicos distinguidos, que son tambien buenos amigos del IFT, incluyendo los premios Nobel Shelly Glashow, Tiny Veltman y David Gross.
Esta conferencia incluirá además una sesión dirigida al público general, con conferencias por los profs. Sheldon Glashow (Nobel 1979) y Albert de Roeck (LHC, CERN).

Inaguración institucional del nuevo edificio del IFT

El lunes 19 de Febrero a las 12.30 se inaugura el nuevo edifico que aloja al IFT y al ICMAT con la presencia del Ministro de Educación Ángel Gabilondo, el Secretario de Estado de Investigación del MICINN Felipe Pétriz, el Presidente del CSIC Rafael Rodrigo, el Rector de la UAM José María Sanz, el Rector de la UCM José Carrillo y el Rector de la UC3M Daniel Peña.
